Put Nadine Over the Top!!

Nadine and Brian Namoff at Charity Shield Match

There is still time to help out Nadine Namoff as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Man & Woman of the Year campaign comes to a close.

Here is a note we received today:

Happy Friday Everyone!

Some of you will be happy to hear that this is my last and final email pitching my campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Woman of the Year – hopefully not the majority of you though :)

Our ten-week competition ends in one day.  These past weeks have truly taught me a lot and have introduced me to some of the most amazing people I will ever meet.  In these final days we remain only $4,500 away from reaching our goal.  It still amazes me how we went from $12,000 to $4,500 in a little less than week!  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me and my team reach our goal.

On April 3rd when I sent out my first campaign letter, I opened up about my inspiration behind this campaign – to never see another daughter go through I went through on October 22 1995.  This campaign has exponentially grown my passion and dedication to finding a cure for blood cancers after hearing the many (too many) stories of families struggling with these diseases.  My dream is to see these diseases become 100% curable and I know that one day we will get there.

Many of you have been waiting to donate so you can help close the final gap.  NOW is the time to do so.  Please help us reach our goal by visiting my fundraising site at http://nca.llsevent.org/tothenthdegree

Thank you all for your support.  I am forever grateful to all of you and words will never be able to explain the honor this campaign has provided me.

All my very best,
Nadine

So before you prepare for a DC United victory over the Chicago Fire at RFK, please take a few minutes and make a donation!

Screaming Eagles Teams compete in Charity Shield

Everyone is invited to come out to a wonderful charity event!

What:              Inaugural DC United Supporters’ Charity Shield Match
When:             Sunday, June 7th 1pm – 5pm
Where:            George Mason University Robinson Field
Tickets:          $10 Donation

The Screaming Eagles and the Barra Brava men’s and women’s soccer teams will be taking to the pitch at GMU to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Wounded Warrior Project.

DC United players and families will be present to cheer on the teams and mingle with supporters. Don’t be surprised if you see the tables turned for once with a player or two wearing face paint, banging a drum or waving a flag!

The women’s match will begin at 1pm and the men will follow at 3pm in a friendly competition designed to show how soccer supporters can gather for some great causes while having a good time both on and off the field.

Brian Glance will be leading his WISL men’s team as this year’s entrant for the men. His squad is the oldest SEFC side having competed for over a decade wearing the colors of the Red & Black.

Becca Johnson will be leading a group of women out for the first match and if you would like to join the squad for this event just drop her a note directly as there are still some positions left to fill.
