United’s Not-So New Coach

Has Ben Olsen ever shied away from a challenge?  Certainly not during his gritty 12-year playing career for D.C. United.  So we shouldn’t expect him to shy away from his latest challenge on the sidelines of RFK Stadium.

Monday saw D.C. United name, Olsen, previously the interim coach, its seventh head coach in club history.

A fan favorite while donning the black-and-red, Olsen quickly transitioned to the bench as an assistant and then to the full head coach position.

Never fear, you can try and catch up with Ben Olsen and help out at the same time!

What: D.C.  United Nothing But Nets Fun-draiser

When: Wednesday, April 1st  7pm-10pm

Where: Garrett’s of Georgetown, 3003 M Street, NW

Ben Olsen and at least two other DC United players will be on hand this Wednesday to raise money and awareness for the Nothing But Nets Challenge, a four team contest featuring Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, and DC United.

The Nothing But Nets initiative was founded by the United Nations foundation in an effort to fight Malaria in Africa, where 3,000 children die each day from the deadly disease. For just $10, a family of four can sleep under a medicated bednet for up to four years.

Come and enjoy watching the US men’s national team take on Trinidad and Tobago with a World Cup veteran and DC United star.
