All summer long we hoped and cheered that Landon Donovan would find his name on the score sheet. But when Donovan sent a 58th-minute penalty kick beyond the outstretched arms of Troy Perkins, there were no cheers, instead, jeers at RFK Stadium.

A 2-1 loss to the L.A. Galaxy on Sunday furthers a win-less July for United, who have not won a league match since an early June victory in Seattle.

Najar’s Volley Earns Road Point For D.C. Versus San Jose

Still dusting off the cobwebs of the league-wide World Cup break, D.C. United traveled to San Jose on Saturday in search of an important road point.

The Earthquake’s Ike Opara turned on a half-volley in the first half to give the home team the lead.  United leveled in the second half with a volley from its young star, Najar.

Each side presented a fair share of shots, with few ending up between the sticks (United edged out that stat, 6-5).

Najar Keeps Uniteds Open Cup Hopes Alive With Late Winner

It’s taken longer than many D.C. United supporters would have liked, but this ship may have finally begun to turn.  Leading the rally - Andy Najar, a 17-year-old MLS rookie and United academy product. It didn’t take the young Honduran long to make his impression on the game and give the small crowd at RFK stadium something to cheer about, as United defeated Real Salt Lake 2-1, in the U.S. Open Cup. In the 107th minute, Najar weaved his way into the box and between RSL defenders Tony Beltran and Will Johnson, then calmly slipped the ball by Kyle Reynish.

Late Goal From Talley Gives United 3-2 Win Against Chivas

When you’ve struggled as much as D.C. United has this season, you’ll take a win anyway you can get it.

A late penalty kick from veteran centerback, Carey Talley capped the 3-2 come from behind victory against Chivas USA on Saturday night.

“Winning breads confidence,” Coach Curt Onalfo said on Wednesday in preparation for the Chivas match.  “That’s important, we need that.  We needed to get that win [against AC Milan] to get ourselves a little bit over the hump, to feel a little bit better about ourselves.”
