DC is more complete than they have been. The real difference in this game is the back. McDonald is the most important thing from the DeRo trade. HE stops headers, he makes that final stop. He is strong. He links well with Simms so Simms can actually be the holding midfielder/midfield swinger he is supposed to be in the system instead of acting also as the center defense at times

DCU are using in the run of play 4114 DeRo is constantly pushing up giving Simms space to make decisions for the teams angle of attack. This is why RB were so slow tonight. When simms has the ball, they can not push to many players forward and thus DC is slowing down attacks with their offensive setup and the players who can execute it as such

Jakovic has the hamstring-itis that seems to plague this team. I was just thinking about the healthy bodies.

There are three options to pair with DeRo in midfield, Simms, King and Kitchen. (Well, Morsink, too). I was being aggressive in moving personnel around, but could he be worse than some of the other play we’ve seen in that role this year (and last)?

Agree w/ most of what you say, but I am not willing to commit our d-mid responsibilities to Kitchen on a permanent basis without seeing him play there a whole lot more. I know he played there at Akron, but still.

Oh, and what about Jakovic?

Shocker that MLS will be forced to use substandard refs next season – Duh! Perhaps the USSF can start spending some of that moolah they’ve brought in for all those “home” international matches on funding proper efforts at bringing the standard up to par.
