Wow, Where to Begin?
We have certainly been feasting on the cornucopia of soccer this past week and there is more to come! From Tim Howard kicking his way into the history books, to Dempsey hat trick heroics to Thierry Henry’s magical moment, there was more than enough to satiate any fan.
Derby Delights
Thanks to all who came out early to our first viewing party of the year at Ri Ra!
While the Red Devils contingent got to cheer a wee bit this time around, there will be plenty of opportunity in the coming weeks for supporters of other sides to get their moment in the spotlight! We don’t know if the drama on display for both the Manchester and Barcelona derby matches can be replicated, but we’ll be there to see. Who knows, maybe instead of a hawk it will be an eagle taking the spotlight (you had to be there).
Two Thumbs Up
The critics all agree, we are chomping at the bit for the season to get started. While we await the action on the field, we are certainly not going to sit on our hands. If you would like to join in our next SEAT (Screaming Eagles At the Theater) adventure at the Kennedy Center, there are a few seats left for the hilarious matinee of “Ann”.
“Ann”
Saturday, January 14th
1:30pm
Eisenhower Theater
Kennedy Center
We have a block of tickets for our members at $30 – which is essentially 1/2 price for this terrific theater event (yes, membership does have its privileges). If you would like to snap up a seat or two for this show or have any questions, just drop a note to outreach@screaming-eagles.com
What’s Your Pick?
In case you missed it, our very own Kim Kolb offered his thoughts on the draft to one of our favorite footy new sources. It is well worth the read, as the Guardian’s Graham Parker has taken the pulse of supporters across the league.
If you would like to take a shot at outguessing the likes of Joe Soccer Fan, send in your prediction as to which player DC United will end up selecting. The winner will receive a fabulous prize and, of course, bragging rights for 2012! The tie-breaker if we have many accurate oracles of DC will be how many other first round picks you have assigned to the correct MLS team.
