
While everyone was sleeping and trying to recover from the World Cup Semifinal Spanish rout of the youngsters of Germany, our next two Major League Soccer opponents decided to duke it out in the US Open Cup out in Tukwila, WA.
Sure, our attention will be divided between our own rivalry roadtrip Saturday to the new home of the Red Bull and the mouth-watering World Cup Final match-up between the stylish boys from Barcelona and the Oranje… but we have a heavy slate of matches coming up in the league and beyond with Seattle, LA Galaxy, the City Islanders and even Portsmouth filling the July home schedule.

Granted it wasn’t exactly a star-studded affair as the second teams for both clubs battled in the quarterfinals of the cup competition. However, since we will be hosting Seattle next Thursday at RFK it might behoove us to take note that Nate Jaqua is back from his long term absence and somehow managed to rack up two goals and exact at least some revenge against the mighty Galaxy which had smacked them around pretty good a few days earlier.
