Making It Count!

Scott definitely left it on the course!

Scott Arrington wins this season’s Screaming Eagles endurance award hands down!!

He sent his thanks to all who helped support him on his mission to raise funds while running the JFK 50 Miler:

Thanks to your generosity $840 dollars were donated to the FC Frederick Scholarship Fund.

Your kindness has opened the doors and created opportunity for children who may not otherwise get to play.

The way I see it, this is not just about playing soccer. This is about kids learning to excel, learning to believe in themselves, learning to overcome adversity, being  part of a team and something positive.  We all see the headlines everyday about all the negativity in terms of youth crime, substance abuse, gangs etc. In my career as a social worker I have seen the damaging effects of these things way too closely.

Thank you for making a difference.

Hope Scott had a chance to check out the view along the way!!

Scott was happy to report that he not only finished the 50 mile race, but that it was a great experience:

… I could not have completed it without the support of my wife and family, and your support as well.  There was no way I was going to let you all down!

Thankfully I was blessed with optimal weather!  I started at 5 am going up South Mountain to get on the Appalachian Trail at South Mountain Inn. By 8:45 I had made it the 15 miles to the C&O Canal at Weverton Cliffs.  The AT was tough in terms of the terrain.  The 26+ miles on the C&O Canal was tough mentally.  The rest of the trip from Damn #4 through Downsville and eventually to Williamsport was tough mentally and physically!  I was able to complete the course after 10hours and 15 minutes and head home before sundown!

Thank you all for your support!
