No we are not talking about the rumors in the Washington Business Journal that hint that DC United is back involved in trying to get a stadium done at Poplar Point (although we would be thrilled at such a prospect).
Rather we are talking about the team’s continued efforts in the community and our attempts to assist in those worthwhile endeavors.
Yup! It is another opportunity for volunteers to gather and help United Builds.

What: Building a Playground for Savoy Elementary School
Where: 2400 Shannon Place, SE (near the Anacostia Metro)
When: August 5-9 from 8am-5pm each day.
We are breaking it into an 8am-12pm and 1pm-5pm shifts. Although we’re sure they will accommodate any hours, they just need volunteers!
Savoy is one of the schools that United for DC works with a lot through United Reads and United Soccer Club.
It is also one of the schools in the District most in need of assistance and therefore is part of the modernization schools project and has just received a brand new state of the art facility.
In addition they are receiving a HUGE playground with 3/4 of costs covered by company funding and grants.
However, they need volunteers for the labor.
And this, of course, is where we can jump in and lend some sweat equity to the project.
If you can help out, please contact Kat Cheshire or drop us a note at outreach@screaming-eagles.com
