Earlier this year, the Nest Liner put forth a history of United jerseys (yeah,it’s got a couple of errors, but it’ll get updated in the coming months, and it’s better than anything else out there). But next year will bring in a new uniform set, as there’s a typical two year lifespan on these things, and United will get uniforms based on World Cup templates, still yet to be seen.
But here’s hoping they don’t go the way of Getafe CF. They
just signed a sponsorship deal with Burger King. I’m sure they shelled out a lot of money for the deal, but the Burger King logo looks a little too ‘Saturday afternoon adult league’ to be on a big La Liga jersey. OK, they’re the not the biggest team in their city (not by a longshot), but still they’re in one of the world’s biggest leagues. So the big Burger King disk on the chest looks cheesy.
But that’s not all…..
But the curious thing is that Getafe’s deal with Burger King isn’t for just the front of the jersey.
Or more specifically, not just for the outside front of the jersey. There’s more…..
….and it’s not pretty.

Not in the least.
Yes. They’ll have an image on the inside of their jersey. So when a player score and does the pull-the-shirt-over-their-head thing, folks will get to see the King. Wow. Want to know the quickest way to become the joke of your league (without being named the New York Red Bulls)? This could be it.
Upset that United ditched adidas’ three stripes for the VW logo? Don’t be. This is proof that United still has a pretty classy look, and Kevin Payne and his minions are likely to keep it that way.
