For those of you who may have missed it while you were too busy celebrating the Comeback in Chicago, one of our very own DC United alums drove a dagger into El Tricolores and their dreams of World Cup Qualifying glory.

That’s right, nothing seems as satisfying as watching the grimace on Cuahtemoc Blanco’s face as Eliseo Quintanilla buried the decisive penalty kick and Estadio Cuscatlan (not to mention the rest of El Salvador and more than a few bars in the area) erupted in ecstasy.

It was great to see Q2 * lead his national team to a humiliation of Mexico, for that REALLY ratchets up the pressure on Aguirre.

It also adds a little more spice to the SE roadtrip to Mexico City and demonstrates our rival’s pretensions for hemispheric dominance for what they truly are – just that!
