Put Nadine Over the Top!!

There is still time to help out Nadine Namoff as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Man & Woman of the Year campaign comes to a close.
Here is a note we received today:
Happy Friday Everyone!
Some of you will be happy to hear that this is my last and final email pitching my campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Woman of the Year – hopefully not the majority of you though

Our ten-week competition ends in one day. These past weeks have truly taught me a lot and have introduced me to some of the most amazing people I will ever meet. In these final days we remain only $4,500 away from reaching our goal. It still amazes me how we went from $12,000 to $4,500 in a little less than week! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me and my team reach our goal.
On April 3rd when I sent out my first campaign letter, I opened up about my inspiration behind this campaign – to never see another daughter go through I went through on October 22 1995. This campaign has exponentially grown my passion and dedication to finding a cure for blood cancers after hearing the many (too many) stories of families struggling with these diseases. My dream is to see these diseases become 100% curable and I know that one day we will get there.
Many of you have been waiting to donate so you can help close the final gap. NOW is the time to do so. Please help us reach our goal by visiting my fundraising site at http://nca.llsevent.org/tothenthdegree
Thank you all for your support. I am forever grateful to all of you and words will never be able to explain the honor this campaign has provided me.
All my very best,
Nadine
So before you prepare for a DC United victory over the Chicago Fire at RFK, please take a few minutes and make a donation!

From Nadine’s original letter in April:
Dear Family, Friends, and Co-workers.
What would you do if you had 10 weeks to give back to your community? Who would you do it for? For me, the decision was simple. I chose to join the taxing fight against blood cancers and the many families it affects. Beginning April 1st, the next 10 weeks will provide me the honor and privilege of running as a candidate in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s 2009 Woman of the Year campaign.
The Man and Woman of the Year Campaign is a unique national campaign raising money for the fight against blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma impacting the estimated 894,543 currently living with these diseases as well as the estimated 135,520 new cases expected for 2009. Men and women in 41 cities across America vie for the title each year in a 10-week fundraising competition. This year, 18 community and business leaders from our nation’s capital will join together with the goal of raising $820,000 while competing against one another to raise the most funds to support important cancer research.
The decision to accept this nomination was easy for me as blood cancers have changed my life forever. On October 22, 1995 the carefree high school world as I had known it came to a halt. After a 12-year battle with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, my father passed away leaving my world forever changed. I was 13.
In honor of my father’s memory, I made the commitment to become one of this year’s candidates. Our campaign team – to the Nth Degree – has set an ambitious goal to raise $100,000 by June 13th and we remain dedicated to this goal. To the Nth Degree refers to our infinite ability to make a difference. We are all affected by cancer to the Nth Degree. We support finding a cure to the Nth Degree. We will raise funds to the Nth Degree. We are committed to the Nth Degree.
Like me, you have the opportunity to make a difference in the battle against these cancers and it is for this reason I am writing you for support in the fight against blood cancers by donating to my campaign. Your tax deductible donation will be used for much needed research and patient services to help hurting families and patients.
I realize our current economic environment has you questioning every dollar spent. Unfortunately cancer is not sensitive to this economy. No matter how rich or how poor, cancer doesn’t care. It never seems to come at the “right time.” That is why your donation to this campaign is critical to the families fighting these diseases.
I hope you’ll be my strength along this incredible journey to Woman of the Year. I thank you for your support on behalf of the families and children affected by these diseases. I thank you on behalf of my father.
Sincerely,
Nadine
