Nest Liner: Stats Check

Even though the season is only four games old, United’s got some interesting trends, some encouraging or interesting, some not so much:

  • Emilio has scored in 75% of meaningful games since he got his hair extensions
  • Five players have played every minute so far including rookie Chris Pontius, and near rookie Dejan Jakovic
  • United has given up 5 goals
  • Ben Olsen has been on the field for only one goal against
  • Jamie Moreno currently has a minutes played to ejections ratio that would make Geoff Aunger blush
  • Only GK Milos Kocic, D Anthony Peters, and MF John DiRaimondo haven’t seen playing time
  • Only John DiRaimondo hasn’t made a game day roster (likely due to either a lack of letters for his jersey, or just trying to fit the name on the jersey)
  • Pontius leads the team in shots
  • United’s only given up one first half goal
  • Bryan Namoff leads the team in assists among players that Twitter and whose spouse blogs….actually, he very well could lead the league in that category.
  • Christian Gomez has scored on 33% of his shots
  • Christian Gomez nas 3 shots in 301 minutes of play…or 1 shot for every 100 minutes and 20 seconds…..or a shot in every one game and 10 minutes and 20 seconds. (a famous Wayne Gretzky saying: You don’t score on 100% of the shots you don’t take)
  • Gomez’s only goal came on a Penalty Kick
  • Troy Perkins is the only DC United goalkeeper to win in Salt Lake City
  • To date, Troy Perkins is the only DC United goalkeeper to ever see game time again after losing in Salt Lake City
  • United hasn’t won in Salt Lake City since a 3-1 victory in 2005.
  • United wore their all white uniform for the first time in 2009
