The Arlington Brigade heartily encourages fellow SE’s to come out to the 2009 VYSA Workshop on Friday and Saturday at the Crystal City Hyatt Regency.

Friday night will feature a special coaching lecture by our very own DC United head coach Tommy Soehn “How Do You Make It to the Professional Level? An Inside Look Into What’s Important for a Player and a Coach to Succeed in the MLS”

Tom will discuss how his players made it to DC United and are able to consistently perform at the highest level of soccer we have in our country.  He will discuss the background of his top players, their training habits, and what they did in their youth to achieve such a level.  He will also explain what characteristics of player development are important to him and what he looks for in scouting players and teams.  He will share what is important for young players to learn that will equate to success at a later date and what coaches can do to address these aspects now.  

Tom will also go into detail regarding coach development, what path to take, and what is needed to become a successful coach.  He will discuss what influences were important to him as he came through the ranks, how he deals with the daily pressure of achieving results, and key suggestions he has for attendees.

Come back on Saturday for a host of worthwhile sessions before heading into town for the monster USA – Sweden pub crawl!!
