US Open Cup Continues TONIGHT!!!
D.C. United v Chicago Fire, July 8 at the Maryland SoccerPlex, kick off at 7:30 pm. You can purchase tickets at the gate for $25 (includes parking). These games are important and the team expects supporters to be there (yeah, this means YOU!) General admission seating (and you couldn’t be closer to the field, who here doesn’t want to yell some choice words at Chicago!) See you there!
2008 SuperLiga Tournament Starts This Saturday

The Super What Now?
The SuperLiga is a North American football (soccer) competition between teams from Mexico‘s Primera División and the United States’ and Canada‘s Major League Soccer, the top football divisions of each respective country. SuperLiga will not only decide the best in the region, but will also award $1,000,000 to the winner; the heftiest winner’s purse in North American football (soccer) history. The inaugural edition of the competition opened on 24 July 2007 and ended with the final on 29 August. You can read more about the 2008 tournament here.
Tickets in the SE Nest, Perch and Aerie
Tickets in the SE Nest and Perch are still available. Please email the SE Ticket Mistress at tickets@screaming-eagles.com. Tickets are $32.50/ticket if pre-ordered. We’re setting an early ordering deadline of July 11 for both the July 12 and July 15 matches. Credit cards, only please! SE Tailgate
We Have a New Tailgate Director!

The Screaming Eagles Board would like to welcome Jeff Howdeshell as our new Tailgate Director. He will join the rest of the merry crew that makes up the SE Executive Committee. At the beginning of the 2008 season Jeff was put in charge of keeping our storage pods organized and working with Thea on making sure we had enough supplies on hand (because God forbid we don’t have enough red cups for the beer tent, there would be a stampede!) If you have any suggestions, comments or complaints about the SE tailgate, please feel free to contact Jeff at tailgates@screaming-eagles.com
Volunteers Needed: We need help in all of the usual areas (set up/take down, grilling, buffet, drinks and membership table). As always, volunteers eat for free. If you’re new to the club, this is a great way to jump in and meet people. Please contact Thea at thea@screaming-eagles.com if you can help.
Sides/Desserts: Saturday’s menu will be a return to the meats, veggie options and pizza that you know and love. If you’d like to add to the spread with a side or a dessert, that would be groovy (doesn’t have to be home made or enough to feed an army). Please contact Thea to let her know what is coming so we have a good mix of each and can leave table space.
Tailgate Timing
We will be open when the lots open at 4 pm so please plan your arrival accordingly to ensure getting some food and drink (the best stuff comes out early).
- 4:00 pm Drink tent opens
- 4:30 pm The Fabulous Buffet Opens
- 7:00 pm Buffet closes
- 7:30 pm Beverage tent closes, head inside
Tailgate Passes
Member passes are $6, non member $10 (non member pass is good for drinks and food). Please order passes in advance, it REALLY helps with menu planning if we know how many are coming.
You can pre-order passes for pickup at the ticket pick up table (next to membership) via Paypal by sending to payments@screaming-eagles.com (in the notes section, please indicate how many you are purchasing and if member or non-member). If you order by 4 pm Friday, July 11 we will have your name on a list, after 4 pm please print off your Paypal receipt and bring with you to the tailgate (we need a confirmation of pre-payment). At the tailgate turn in your pass at the tailgate check-in table where you will receive a wristband and then you can belly up to the buffet.
Passes for the tailgate are also available for purchase on the day of the game, cash only, at the SE ticket window.
Name that Tune-Win a Free Tailgate!
Come up with the best song title that best describes our upcoming game against the C.D. Guadalajara and you can win a free tailgate (title can be something you make up or from an actual song). Email your entry to Kim by 5 pm on Friday, July 11 (include your name and email address). The winning entry will be posted on Saturday along with the playlist for the tailgate (winner will also be notified by email so please put email address you can be reached at during the weekend). Winner must use tailgate pass on the weekend that they win.

Pick Up Your Renewal Scarves
While many of you have stopped at the membership table at the tailgate we still have a ton of scarves to pass out so PLEASE come on by (they’re not doing any good if they’re not in your hands or around your neck). If you haven’t renewed your membership for 2008 yet, stop by and kill two birds with one stone. You can take care of at the membership table at any tailgate or go here and mail in the form or send us payment via Paypal.
